Jeanette Gibson was ready.
“Be my guest,” Gibson challenged.
But Snow couldn’t, and the Rockingham woman suffered a 10-0 defeat toGibson early Tuesday morning on the second day of the 25th annual Senior Games of Richmond County in the women’s 70 to 74 age division bocce final.
Snow, a former Uwharrie Senior Games gold medal winner, said the rules are different for the Richmond County contest. Here, Snow said, it’s one-and-one. In some other county levels and at the state competition, it’s best two out of three.
“I don’t get warmed up until after the first game,” Snow said.
No matter, though: “I’m out here for the fun of it.”

Carrie Henson smiled through a 9-0 defeat to Glennie Chavis in the women’s 75 to 79 final.
Though highly competitive during play, opponents remain friends after the contest is over. Inevitably, one advances and one doesn’t; that’s the very nature of sport.
