Basketball free throw contest set for Jan. 31

hoopCHERAW, S.C. — The Knights of Columbus Council #10867 will conduct its annual Basketball Free Throw Contest beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Cheraw Community Center.

The contest is open to all boys and girls ages 9 to 14 as of Jan. 1, 2015. Boys and girls will have their own competition and the contestants will compete against their own gender.

The winner in each age group will receive a certificate and a medal, with the chance to advance to the district competition in February in Cheraw. The district winners will then advance to the state competition in Columba in early March.

All contestants at the local competition will also receive a certificate of participation. All boys and girls that want to participate in the contest can pick up registration forms at the Cheraw Community Center, 200 Powe St., or register on Saturday at the competition. The contest is free, and each participant must bring a copy of their birth certificate to enter.

The Knights of Columbus Council #10867 is comprised of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cheraw, St. Ernest Catholic Church in Pageland, and St. Dennis Catholic Church in Bennettsville.
