Ask the Goat: VESPA power products

Many of you have asked me why I take VESPA. Well, here is why: What is VESPA? According to creator Peter Defty’s website,

“VESPA is literally ‘Nature’s Catalyst.’ VESPA is a synergistic blend of naturally-occurring, minimally processed ingredients from bees & wasps (Honey, Propolis, Royal Jelly, Wasp Extract). The key fat metabolizing catalyst is the wasp extract peptide derived from the Asian Mandarin Wasp (Vespa mandarina), one of nature’s most potent endurance & performance animals. This wasp flies between 70-100 KM per day in search of food and carries half its body weight to its entire body weight in food back to the colony to feed to the larvae. The adult wasp does not eat this solid food; rather, it receives a liquid containing the wasp extract peptide from the larvae in a symbiotic relationship called trophallaxis. This allows the the adult wasp to metabolize the fats stored in its thorax. In turn, the adult wasp feeds the larvae a food ball usually composed of other insects the wasp has preyed upon and subsequently chewed into a food ball using its powerful mandibles. Because all animal cells are similar across species the ingredients of VESPA exert their fat burning influence in human cells.”

“VESPA does not ‘boost’ performance but optimizes your natural potential. VESPA’s effects are subtle and largely un-noticed in the conventional sense. While the direct effects of tapping in to your natural fuel stores are key to endurance/stamina, the indirect effects are just as critical. The shift to beta-oxidation and ketosis also produces a blood-sugar stabilizing effect so mental focus and motor skills/coordination remain razor sharp allowing the athlete to be at the top of their game for their entire game and/or competition. VESPA provides a lower oxidative stress and lactate load which can be directly ‘felt’ in terms of significantly lower muscle soreness. And last, VESPA promotes improved performance from carbohydrate intake; by using VESPA and its OFM program athletes consistently note their ‘fat-adapted’ state increases the benefits from the carbohydrate intake. Carbs works better, stronger, using less when using VESPA. Limiting intake of dietary fuel during high-intensity events significantly lowers the risk for Gastro/Intestinal issues.”

The ‘cutting-edge’ nutrition and sports physiology research is undergoing a seismic shift and VESPA is leading the way with race winning/record setting results which defy conventional sports nutrition/physiology on fat-based performance. In fact, it is becoming more and more obvious the recommended dietary advice of a high-carbohydrate, low-fat diet has had unintended consequences for human health and athletes do not escape these impacts. VESPA has been advocating focusing on fat metabolism for over a decade.”

“Getting the human body back to burning ‘fat as fuel’ is the key to optimal performance & health. This is the energy source our bodies are meant to burn for almost the entire spectrum of aerobic energy yet conventional dietary and sports nutritional advice has taken most athletes far afield from their natural heritage. VESPA’s naturally-occurring, minimally processed ingredients are nature’s catalyst for fat based performance and health. The OFM Program gives the athlete the tools they need to be able to follow these two guiding tenets.”

“OFM (Optimized Fat Metabolism) was created & developed for VESPA athletes to consistently obtain the ‘game-changing’ performance and health benefits of VESPA and is an outgrowth of VESPA’s commitment to our customers. OFM is an integrated, multi-facetted approach to help the athlete make that fundamental shift back to burning “fat as fuel” for aerobic metabolism, even at higher aerobic levels. However, OFM is not a ‘one size fits all’ structured program. OFM empowers the athlete with the information, scientific basis, and real world application so each athlete can integrate OFM into their daily life by making achievable changes based upon each athlete’s unique situation.”
