Obituary: Roy Marshall McDonald

Mr. Roy Marshall McDonald, 74, of 360 Graham Bridge Road, Rockingham, N.C., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

He was born Jan. 14, 1940 in Richmond County, son of Roy Lee McDonald and Alma Greene McDonald.

obit_iconA member of McDonald Baptist Church, co-founder of Hamlet Hardware in 1959, served on numerous boards in Richmond County and was the proud owner of Sandhills Gator Farm.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Long McDonald.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy McDonald (Randy Shockley) and Ashley Hardee (Terry Rushing) all of Rockingham; son, Mark McDonald (Stephanie) of Rockingham; Randy Brigman (Lynn Hollifield) Rockingham; brothers, Carney, Vernon and Larry McDonald all of Rockingham and Duran McDonald of Matthews; sisters, Deborah Clark, Aletta Zerof and Joyce Matthews all of Rockingham, Jeanette Marzen of BelAir, Md., and Anne London of Charleston, S.C.; and grandchildren Reagan Brigman and Trey McDonald.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Harrington Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of the son, Mark at 350 Graham Bridge Road, Rockingham.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4 at McDonald Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
