Obituary: Madeline Chavis Malloy

obit_iconMrs. Madeline Chavis Malloy, 80, of 1952 E. US Highway 74, Hamlet, N.C., died, Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014 at Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet.

She was born March 4, 1934 in Richmond County, daughter of Willie Chavis and Ollie English Chavis.

Mrs. Malloy was a supervisor in a textile mill. Mrs. Malloy was a member of the Church Of God Of Prophecy of Laurel Hill.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Malloy of Laurel Hill, a brother, Grover Chavis of Laurel Hill, and a sister Ruth Sweatt of Hamlet.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Joyce Brock of Hamlet, a son Jesse Dewayne Malloy of Hamlet, brothers Hurley Chavis of Laurel Hill, Carson Chavis of Raleigh, and sisters Glennie Chavis of Hamlet, Edith Quinn of Hamlet, and Ginney Alcock of Laurel Hill. She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 at Harrington Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28 with Rev. Phil Pierce officiating.

Mrs. Malloy will be buried at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gibson, N.C.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Malloy family.
