Obituary: Bruce D. Fields

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Bruce Dean Fields, 80 of Rockingham died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at his home surrounded with his family.

Bruce was born Sept. 29, 1934 in Richmond County, a son of the late Stroman B. and Nettie McLean Fields.

obit_iconHe worked in electrical maintenance for JP Stevens. He was preceeded in death by his brother Barry Fields and his sister Nina Ruth “Sis” Porter.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Johnson Fields of the home; a son Dean Fields and wife Connie of Rockingham; a daughter, Lisa Fields Wright and husband Wayne of Rockingham; his grandchildren, Missy F. Humber, Andrew Wright, Lorie Brackhahn and Lennie Brackhahn; and  his five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Dwight Fields of Jacksonville, Fla.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 in Northam Cemetery officiated by the Rev. David Lee.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
