Obituary: Ricky Singletary

Richard Wade “Ricky” Singletary, 61, of Rockingham, N.C., passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at his home.

Ricky was born Jan. 10, 1953 in Richmond County, a son of the late Griffin Sam and Cleo Edwards Singletary.

flagHe was a charter member of Shining Light Free Will Baptist Church, had served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of the AmVets and VFW. He was a member of Eastern Seaboard and Dixie Ambush Bands and loved fishing and playing golf. He and his wife Teresa owned and operated Broad Street Station in Rockingham.

Surviving are his wife Teresa Raymond Singletary of the home; daughter, Brandy Singletary of the home, brother, William “Bill” Singletary of Rockingham; sister, Jennie S. Kelly of Rockingham; special nephew, Billy Singletary of Hamlet; special niece, Marenda Grace Smith of Thomasville; his “brothers” in Dixie Ambush and Eastern Seaboard bands and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shining Light Free Will Baptist Churchwith Rev. Robert “Tug” Gainey and Rev. Howard Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will see friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home.
