C. Mallery gets the edge with an eagl

MOUNT SAVAGE — Colby Mallery and Bill Shreve matched each other during Week 8 of Saturday Morning Tag League with 14 birdies.
Whereas Mallery carded an eagle on No. 7 long, Shreve needed four strokes and saved par.
The two-stroke swing broke a tie after 19 holes and Mallery, 19, of Mount Savage, went on to finish with a 16 under par 58 for the victory while Shreve, 47, of Cumberland, placed second with a 61. The fight for first between the top two players on Saturday morning at Mile Lane Disc Golf in Mount Savage featured three ties and five lead changes.
Gordon Cox, 49, of Hagerstown, earned the final spot on the podium with a personal best 62 on the 24-basket layout. Players completed 12 from the short tees and 12 from the long tees on the 24-hole layout; females and minors played all 24 from the short tees.
Shania Farris, 26, of Wiley Ford, W.Va., tied for the third-lowest score with a 62 — at 10 under par, she reported it to be her best performance at Mile Lane — while Scott Mallery, 55, of Mount Savage, placed fifth with a 63.
Kevin Spradlin, 44, of Frostburg, took sixth (69), Richard Smith, 50, of Hagerstown, was seventh (70), Tim Farris, 27, of Wiley Ford, placed eighth (71), and Rick Perkins, 66, of Cumberland, was ninth (72). Seth Wilson, 28, of Cresaptown, tied for 10th with Ethan von Hagel, 21, of Cumberland (73). Anthony Miller, 36, of Mercersburg, Pa., placed 12th with a personal best (and even par) 74. Evan Padovini, 12, of Frostburg, rounded out the 13-player field with a 76.
Mallery and Shreve led the birdie parade with 14 apiece, while Mallery and Cox offered eagles on No. 7 long. Scott Mallery carded 12 birdies, Shania Farris had 11 while Cox added 10.
