MOUNT SAVAGE — David Warder makes putts from 15 feet out far more often than he misses.

On Saturday, he missed one that counted. The 31-year-old’s attempt at reaching the blue basket failed to connect, hitting a tree and kicking right at the 24th and final hole of Week 8 of the Saturday Morning Tag League at Mile Lane Disc Golf Course in Mount Savage. The miss put Warder in sole possession of third place, by a single stroke.

Colby Mallery, 19, of Mount Savage, rallied over the final 12 holes to toss a low round of 12 under par 63. Derek Hunter, of Bedford, Pa., was second with a 64 while Warder finished with a 65. Scott Mallery, 54, of Mount Savage, and Sam Wolodkin, 20, of Frostburg, each threw a 67 to tie for fourth. Colby Mallery was in third place after the first 12 holes, from the short tees.

Ethan von Hagel, 20, of Cumberland, and Devon Spiker, 19, of Frostburg, finished in a tie for sixth, each having thrown a 68. Kevin Spradlin, 43, of Frostburg, was eighth (75) while newcomer David Lick was ninth (79).

Saturday Morning Tag League competition resumes Oct 1. Tee time is 10 a.m. Play is open to the public. League membership is not required.
