Barbara J. Young became on Tuesday the first candidate for Dobbins Heights Town Council in the October municipal election.
Town Council members Mary Ann Gibson and Gracie C. Jackson, both Democrats, are up for re-election this fall. Jackson, however, has indicated she will not seek another term. This is her 28th year as a council member.
John Hutchinson was the only other candidate to file. Hutchinson is seeking re-election to the Rockingham City Council in the November general election.
The filing period will close at noon on Friday, July 17.
