Tonight’s Plaza Jam postponed

ROCKINGHAM — Tonight’s weather forecast has forced the postponement of tonight’s Plaza Jam session with The Rick Strickland Band.

The summer concert series is hosted at Cole Plaza in Rockingham from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on each first Thursday of the month from May through October. The National Weather Service has much of Richmond County under a Hazard Weather Outlook for this evening. Scattered thunderstorms that could produce locally damaging wind gusts this afternoon and evening are possible.

Though a damper to the unofficial start of the 4th of July celebration, the postponement sets up a midsummer classic. The Rick Strickland Band is now scheduled to perform on July 30, and the following week The Tams are slated to take the stage.

The 12th annual concert series, which offers patrons free admission but encourages donations of nonperishable food items for Our Daily Bread food ministry, resumes Sept. 3 with Too Much Sylvia and Band of Oz on Oct. 1.
