HAMLET — Corey Davis and Kevin Mabe, representing the Richmond County Schools Transportation Department, were recognized at Tuesday night’s monthly public meeting of the Richmond County Board of Education for staff efforts in a recent maintenance review.
In early May, state officials randomly selected nine Richmond County Schools buses and measured 15 levels of compliance. In all areas, noted Donna Gephart, Richmond County received a “satisfactory” score.
Not only that, but the department did more than twice as good as in 2014. This year, the score was a measly 6.33 — lower is better — compared to 16.22 last year.
The average score for a school district in the central region of North Carolina is 30.28, Gephart added.
Dr. Cindy Goodman, superintendent, said a state official contacted her personally to acknowledge the test score was “sickeningly good.”
