Obituary: Phillip Knight

John Phillip Knight, 66, wonderful and loving husband, father and papa passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2015.

Phillip was born December 23, 1948 in Richmond County, a son of Julia Elizabeth Greene Knight and the late John Clement Knight.

He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe, had served his country in the U.S. Army and had retired from Brown Creek Detention Center. He loved cooking BBQ, the outdoors and doing things for his family.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie McDonald Knight of the home; daughters, Keri Cook (Thayer) of Rockingham, Regan Elsenpeter (Jeremy) of Rockingham, Dr. Mary Catherine Moree (Joey) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Shane Cook (Tega), Kristen Cook, Casey Harris, Zachary Harris, Ty Cook, Drew Moree; great grandchild, Aryanna Cook; mother, Julia Knight of Rockingham and brother Dean Knight (Bonnie) of New Bern.

A service to celebrate Phillip’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Ellerbe with Rev. Bill Monroe and Rev. Larry Frye officiating. 

The family will see friends following the service and at other times at the Moree home, 669 Richmond Road Extension, Rockingham.
