ROCKINGHAM — Cordova resident Betty McIntyre captured the near-full moon Saturday evening over downtown Rockingham.
McIntyre positioned herself around Harrington Square to capture the shots of the moon at 98 percent visibility.
The full moon, at 100 percent visibility, is available tonight and Monday night, then at 99 percent on Tuesday night into Wednesday. According to EarthSky.org, North Americans often call this full moon the Flower Moon, the Milk Moon or the Planting Moon.
“Although the moon will appear full all night long tonight, the full moon really happens at a well-defined instant, turning precisely full on May 4, at 3:42 Universal Time. At U.S. time zones, that means the moon turns full this evening, on May 3, at 11:42 p.m.”
