ROCKINGHAM — Fidelity Bank staff kept rather unusual work hours Wednesday evening as local and regional staff celebrated the grand opening of its East Broad Avenue location, the site of the former Rockingham Fish Camp.
More than 70 staff, family members and Richmond County Chamber of Commerce members supported the catered event with their attendance. Willa Spivey, branch manager, and other bank employees spoke with visitors about the increased natural lighting and convenience for customers, highlighting the easy access off Highway Business 74 and multiple drive-through lanes.
Speakers for the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Emily Tucker, chamber president, Rockingham Mayor Pro Tem John Hutchinson, County Commissioner Thad Ussery and Patrick Chappell, area supervisor for Fidelity Bank.
Company officials announced in May 2014 that Fidelity Bank would close its downtown Rockingham office and reopen this Spring in a newly constructed consolidated branch office.
Officials then announced in October 2014 that the Hamlet and Ellerbe would close in early 2015.
