The six-hour event includes live music, inspirational speeches and carnival-style cuisine — as well as a variety of ways to spend a buck or two and raise even more money for the American Cancer Society.

Through 3:30 p.m. today, 36 teams comprised of 325 participants have recorded $42,016.57 in donations — just over the 40 percent mark of the $100,000 goal.

Top teams include Sandhills Regional Medical Center, Richmond County Hospice, Cascades Tissue, Richmond Senior High School and the Quick family.

Top individual fundraisers include Cameron Whitley, Jimmy Quick and Frances Quick — all members of the Quick family team — followed by Mary Warnock of Richmond County Hospice and Matthew Poston of West Rockingham Elementary School.
