LEDBETTER — More than 80 people took part in the annual tradition of an Easter Sunday egg hunt at the headquarters of American Legion Post 147 in the Ledbetter community.
Post Commander Robert Steele cautioned kids not to run, as “there’s plenty of eggs” for everyone, and he was right — legionnaires purchased more than 29 dozen eggs for the hunt, an American Legion Post 147 which dates back nearly 65 years.
Steele also offered a bit of strategic advice. Some eggs, he said, were specially marked eggs that could be exchanged for cash.
But, he warned, “don’t come running back to us” when a specially marked egg is found. Instead, he suggested, keep hold of that egg and continue the hunt until all the eggs are found.

After American Legion Post 147 members announced there were still four of the 355 eggs to be found, some ambitious hunters left no leaf unturned.
Prospective egg hunters were divided into two age divisions, 0 to 7 and 8-and-up.
After the hunt, egg hunters were ushered inside the headquarters building to enjoy refreshments, including an ice cream cone, and the Disney movie, “Frozen.”
