Shooting suspects turn themselves in

ROCKINGHAM — With their attorneys at their sides, two men wanted in connection with an April 11 shooting that left a third man injured turned themselves in to authorities.

James Wilbert Thomas and Benjamin Franklin Wall III each were charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Both men were ordered held under $250,000 secured bonds and are confined in Richmond County Jail.

Mark Gulledge, chief deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, thanked the local media outlets and the general public for the assistance in getting the word out.

It was Wednesday when the Sheriff’s Office announced that Wall and Thomas were suspects in the shooting of David Ingram, 37, of Hamlet, early Saturday on Midway Road in Rockingham. They were considered “armed and dangerous” during their time on the run from investigators.
