HAMLET — Multi-platinum selling country artist Collin Raye will close out the final show of the DeWitt Performing Arts Series with a concert Friday, April 17, at the Cole Auditorium on the main campus of Richmond Community College.

Raye was a mainstay on country radio throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Twenty-five of his singles placed in the Top 30 on the country charts, with four peaking at No. 1. His No. 1 hits include “My Kind of Girl,” “I Can Still Feel You,” “In This Life” and “Love, Me.”

Raye also made his way twice onto the Adult Contemporary charts with “The Gift” and “Peace (Where The Heart Is),” which were duets with Jim Brickman, and he’s seen success as a gospel music artist with the release of his 2011 CD “His Love Remains.”

Raye’s concert at the Cole will include a variety of his well-known songs, as well as some sacred music and a tribute to Glen Campbell, who is battling Alzheimer’s as he wraps up a career spanning 50 years. Raye’s mother is also battling the disease. In 2013, Raye released a CD of Glen Campbell cover songs called “Still on the Line.”

Raye’s most recent CD was released in 2014 entitled “Everlasting” and includes 13 cover tunes, including tracks by Billy Joel, Bryan Adams and Elton John.

“One thing for certain is that Collin Raye is going to put on a fantastic show to close out our concert series this year,” said Cole Auditorium Director Joey Bennett. “He has a wealth of material to draw from over the span of his career, and it’s all songs everyone in the family can enjoy.”
