‘Welding for Everyone’ course to begin April 14

LAURINBURG — Richmond Community College will offer a six-week welding course on the campus of Scotland High School in Laurinburg that will prepare beginners to enter the workforce, as well as give welders with experience an opportunity to hone their skills.

RCC_50th_logo_horizontalCalled “Welding for Everyone,” the course will be offered from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 14 through May 21. Students will learn the basics of stick and mig welding, as well as some tig. Instructor will be Randy Cox, who has taught many welding classes at RCC and has seen several of his students make successful transitions from the classroom into the workforce.

“Most of the local industries primarily do mig welding, but once a student completes this program, they’ll have the skills for a variety of welding jobs,” Cox said.

Cost of the “Welding for Everyone” course is $125, and students are required to have their own welding helmet, gloves and sleeves. The classes are being offered through RCC’s Workforce and Economic Development division.
