Obituary: Joseph “Joey” Sheppard

Joseph “Joey” Sheppard, 44, of 121 Branch Trail in Rockingham, N.C., died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Richmond County on October 19, 1970 to Nelson David Sheppard Sr. and Susan Bryant Peele.

He was a truck driver for Nolan Tracking.

He is survived by wife Christina Terry Sheppard of the home; sons Joseph Ryan Sheppard and Christopher Tyler Sheppard; his father Nelson Sheppard Sr. and mother Susan Peele; brothers Nelson David Sheppard Jr. and his wife “Chi” and Jesse Ray Sheppard and his wife Sarah; sister Jennifer Williams; special grandfather Jesse Sheppard; and in-laws Bill Terry of Hamlet and Pat Terry of Rockingham.

Joey was a peaceful soul. From the moment you met him, you loved him. His infectious laugh always made you smile. Joey always worked hard and did his very best. Joey became a father at a young age. His boys stole his heart. From that moment on, his boys were his life. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Joey will leave a special place in each one of our hearts. We will never stop loving you.

Family will receive friends at 1493 Beaverbrook Road, Rockingham, North Carolina.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 30 at Harrington Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.
