PINEHURST — A Moore County businessman has been appointed to the North Carolina Board of Transportation,
Patrick Molamphy, owner of Molamphy and Associates insurance and Albemarle Oil Company, “which owns and operates convenience store gas stations and fast-food restaurants in 17 towns and cities in the Carolinas,” according to The Pilot.
Nineteen men and women from across the state make up the N.C. Board of Transportation. Each member represents a specific Transportation Division or at-large area of interest and works with NCDOT staff members to make decisions about transportation priorities.
The board meets monthly in Raleigh, typically the first Thursday of each month, with subcommittee meetings held the first Wednesday. The April meeting agenda is here (PDF) and is set for an 8:30 a.m. start on Thursday.
Molamphy’s appointment was made by Gov. Pat McCrory. He sits on the board to represent Division 8, which includes Moore, Chatham, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Randolph, Richmond and Scotland counties.
The Pilot reported that Molamphy was scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday afternoon in Raleigh, according to an announcement from Rep. Jamie Boles’ office.
