In an effort to establish new traditions, Richmond Senior High School’s JROTC hosted its first Formal Dining In on Tuesday, March 24. Dressed in their dapper duds, cadets from all companies socialized with one another, practiced etiquette and had dinner.
Following the social hour and receiving line, each of Richmond Senior High School’s 128 cadets toasted with the Raider Battalion’s secret green grog as the Punch Bowl Ceremony began. Symbolizing elements of military life, ingredients included sand from a boot and chunks of both coal and cotton.
A Tribute to our Fallen Soldiers with a toast and moment of silence followed, with dinner being served after.
Throughout the meal, cadets who broke rules, such as improper uniform additions or drinking out of turn, were required to report to the head table where proper punishments were determined. They ranged from military push-ups to finishing the meal wearing a baby’s bib.
The evening ended with Senior Testimonials in addition to skits from each company.
