CHERAW, S.C. — More than 126 students from Northeastern Technical College and Chesterfield County’s four public high schools were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on March 12 at NETC’s main campus in Cheraw.

The inductees were applauded for their outstanding achievement while enrolled in career and occupational programs.

The guest speaker for the event was Billy Hogge, business operations project manager and company pilot for Screwmatics of South Carolina, Inc.  During his speech he commended the students on the distinctive honor of being named to the NTHS and spoke about changes in local industry and the increasing need for a highly skilled workforce.

“Industry jobs used to be considered back breaking labor, but now that is all changing.  In the last 20 years, there has been a huge shift to high-tech, high salary jobs in our area industries,” said Hogge.  “I encourage you to continue on into these industrial career fields, there is so much opportunity, not only in South Carolina, but nationwide.”

NETC President Dr. Ron Bartley, and Dr. J. Harrison Goodwin, superintendent of Chesterfield County School District, also congratulated students on their achievements in technical education.

Before new members were inducted, a candle lighting ceremony was conducted along with a reading about the honor society’s vision and mission statements.

Inducted into the National Technical Honor Society for NETC were Nasser Abbassi, Natasha Nicole Austin, Kenesha Lashon Blakeney, Rolston Keith Childers,  Danny Ray Crowley, Bobby Leon Daniels, Demetrius Daishaun Davis, Alexis Idella Daymon, Ronnie Glenn Guinn, Jr., Allen Lee Holden, Tony Dale Lee, Aaron Daniel Manukas, Sharron Breeden Melton, Jamison Taylor Miles, Alexis Yasmeen O’Neal, Miari Tiyaila O’Neal-Daniels, Cody Eugene Pearson, Kelsey Taylor Phifer, Dawn M.
