Staff report
MIAMI — Injured linebacker Dannell Ellerbe could remain with the Miami Dolphins if he’s willing to restructure his contract.
The Miami Herald first reported that Ellerbe and wide receiver Mike Wallace could stay on the team’s final roster if both are willing to renegotiate their contracts to give the team additional cap space.

Carolyn Walker, a member of the board of directors for Richmond County Aging Services, thanks Dannell Ellerbe for his efforts in providing 85 meals to area seniors in November 2014 in Rockingham.
Ellerbe, 29, signed a five-year, $35 million free agent contract in after helping the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2012-13 season.
Ellerbe is a product of Richmond County and a former Richmond Raider. He already had a legion of admirers and well-wishers bofore hosting his free football clinic for some 200 kids in July 2014 at Richmond Senior High School — but gained even more later last year. As the Dolphins worked to an 8-8 season, Ellerbe was working his way back from a hip injury but used available time to offer Thanksgiving meals to area seniors and bought Christmas for 59 county children.
