HAMLET — The Hamlet Police Department has promoted Steve Taylor to patrol captain at the police department.
Taylor is a career law enforcement officer, and has spent the last 24 years with the city of Hamlet. The city used a panel of assessors from the law enforcement field to evaluate Taylor and the other finalists for the position.
Taylor is very excited to step into this new role with the city.
“I would like to thank retired Rockingham Police Chief Eddie Martin, he sponsored me to go through the Basic Law Enforcement Training back in 1991 at Montgomery Community College,” Taylor said in a news release. “I would like to thank Chief Terry Moore for hiring me and promoting me to sergeant. I have enjoyed working for the city of Hamlet and look forward to continuing my work for the city. I would like to thank my family and friends for their support. I look forward to working with Chief Waters in taking the Hamlet Police Department forward.” said Steve.
Hamlet Police Chief Scott Waters is excited to be making progress in filling the vacancies in his department.
“Capt. Taylor has worked hard to get to where he is today,” Waters said. “Stevie has worked his way up through the ranks of the Hamlet Police Department for the last several years. Capt. Taylor has devoted his career to the city Of Hamlet and I believe he will continue to serve the citizens of Hamlet in a fair and just way. I, too, look forward to working with Capt. Taylor in taking the Hamlet Police Department forward.”
Taylor will continue leading the law enforcement officers who serve under him and will begin as the patrol captain immediately.
