CHERAW, S.C. — The town of Cheraw extends its sympathy to the family of former Town Council member Ruth Spencer, who has died at the age of 82.

A Cheraw native and former school teacher, Spencer served on the Cheraw Town Council during the 1990s and until 2002.
Visitation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Reid’s Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church.
