Members of Poplar Hill Lodge 331 and Loch Haven Golf Course are teaming up for the fourth annual Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The charity event is set for Saturday, March 14. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and players tee off at 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the event assisted Poplar Hill Lodge 331 in funding scholarships for local students. Last year, the lodge assisted 12 high school and college students. The goal this year is to raise $10,000 — enough to help 20 students.

Lex hill, Lex Hill Jr., Earnest Morman and Mike Smith teamed up to win last year’s tournament at Loch Haven Golf Course.
“We are working towards a day when money exceeds need and no one is left behind,” lodge officials said in a news release. “This may seem unattainable. However, we believe it is better to attempt great things and fail than to attempt small things and succeed.”
The cost is $160 for each four-person team. Lunch and beverages will be served during the tournament. First place wins $400 and trophies, while runner-ups and third-place finishers win trophies. In addition, there are trophies for longest drive and closest to the pin.
Poplar Hill Lodge is tax exempt under the state lodge association. Event organizers are seeking donations, sponsors and players at this time.
Donations should be made payable to Poplar Hill Lodge 331 Scholarship Fund and mailed to: Curtis Ingram, 1108 Rice St., Hamlet NC 28345.
