Mrs. Linda Marie Hodges, 68, of Sylva, N.C., formerly of Hamlet, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at Medwest-Harris Hospital.
A native of Union County, S.C., she was born Oct. 16, 1946, a daughter of the late Frances Lucille Black.
Linda was a beloved wife and mother and possessed an indomitable spirit, but was not a woman who could be defined by any one person in relation to her or by any one characteristic. She was a woman who lived life on her own terms, unafraid to confront its challenges, and proudly instilled in her children her same strength of character. Irreplaceable and unforgettable; she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband Wayne Hodges of Sylva; three daughters. Gloria Quinn of Greenville; Ann Hodges of Chicago, Ill., and Michelle Hodges of Sylva; sisters Sandra Cain of Laurinburg and Martha Hurst of Rockingham; granddaughter Lillie Hodges of Sylva; and numerous cousins and extended family.
The family will receive guests at a service in honor of her life from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Ellerbe Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe.
