ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County native Amanda Moss was sworn in Monday morning as the newest assistant district attorney to work under District Attorney Reece Saunders.

Her mother, Dale Cline Moss, held the Bible upon which Moss swore to serve the office faithfully and with dignity and honor in District 16C.  Saunders, along with Clerk of Superior Court Vickie Daniel and dozens of others, were on hand for the brief ceremony before Judge Amanda Wilson began the morning’s regular court docket.

Moss, 27, earned her law degree from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Va. Upon graduation in 2013, Moss returned to Rockingham and became a journalist for the Richmond County Daily Journal.

In May 2014, Moss left the newspaper business to begin her career as an attorney — first through an internship, then by opening up her own practice.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in Boone. She also attended University of Liverpool in England.

Moss declined to comment, but Wilson offered a few words of encouragement.

“We’re glad to keep you here,” Wilson said.

She then thanked Moss’ mother for her attendance.

“This is the most importance place for (you) today,” Wilson said.

Moss is expected to work cases primarily in Anson County.
