Major joins FirstHealth as mental health nurse practitioner

PINEHURST — A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner has joined FirstHealth Behavioral Services.

Catherine Major, MSN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, with a B.S. in Nursing and continued her education at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, where she earned a Master’s degree in Nursing with focus as a family nurse practitioner.

After practicing as a family nurse practitioner in Northern Virginia, she relocated to North Carolina, enrolled at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and completed the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program.

Before joining FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Major was employed by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where she conducted psychiatric adult inpatient evaluations for adult inpatient clients and performed discharges on the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Behavioral Health Unit.

She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
