First responders arrive on scene of a single-vehicle rollover on U.S. Route 220 north of Highway Business 74 at Lee Street early Saturday afternoon.

At about 12:39 p.m., the driver of the white GMC truck was traveling northbound on U.S. Route 220 at Lee Street when, judging from the tire tracks, the truck left the roadway and traveled another couple hundred feet before hitting an embankment and rolling over.

The driver was standing by the truck when first responders, including personnel from the Rockingham Police Department, Rockingham Fire Department and FirstHealth EMS, arrived on scene.

It was not immediately clear what the cause of the crash might have been.

Traffic was cut to a single northbound lane for the majority of the incident clean-up. Traffic was shut down completely in the northbound lane while Arlo’s Wrecker Service prepared to haul the truck from the scene.
