Obituary: William English

flagWilliam Leo English, 89, of Hamlet, N.C., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at his home.

Mr. English was born July 18, 1925 in Scotland County, the son of the late Stephen and Stella Alford English.

He was the former owner and operator of Leo’s Furniture in Hamlet and served his country in the U. S. Navy.

Surviving are a son, William Leo English Jr. of Rockingham; daughter, Nancy English Waters of Lumberton; a brother, the Rev. Lester English of Rockingham; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his, wife, Bernice Fowler English; a daughter, Deborah English; and brothers, Cecil and Jim English.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home.
