Obituary: James Barnes

James Edward Barnes, 68, of Longs, S.C., passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at his home.

flagMr. Barnes was born May 23, 1946 in Richmond County, a son of the late Edgar Franklin and Mary Virginia Smith Barnes.

He had served his country in the U.S. Navy, had worked with Union Camp, Hudson Paper and retired as Plant Manager with Bemis Manufacturing.

Surviving are his children, Tonya Marinelli of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Matthew Barnes of Longs; grandchildren, Bradley, Alec, Ethan and C.J.; brother, Daniel Barnes of Rockingham; sisters, BarbraAnn Presley and Sherri Bailey Barnes, both of Rockingham and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Calvin Bean officiating. Inurnment will be held privately.

The family will see friends following the service at the funeral home.
