Roberts honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

CORDOVA — Members of the Cordova Fire and Rescue volunteer unit celebrated another safe and successful year Saturday night during its annual awards ceremony.

Those recognized included:

Jimmy Roberts with the Lifetime Achievement Award;

Austin Parker as Fireman of the Year;

Bobby Gustafson as Officer of the Year;

Jeremy Chance with the Chief’s Award;

Archie Chavis as Rookie of the Year; and

Luke Cagle with the Junior Fire Chief Award.

The unit also congratulated Calvin Smith, who received Fireman of the year with Wrightsville Beach Fire Department, where ehe is currently completing fire academy.

In addition, officials recognized four individuals who obtained their Firefighter I and Firefighter 2 state certification this year: Mary Gainey, Dann McGrew, Tyler Gainey and Ricky Parker.
