Susan and Dale Furr, of 137 Fairway Drive in the Pine Lakes subdivision located off U.S. Route 1, opened in August a give-and-take library in which borrowers could take a book at no cost and leave a book at their discretion. No overdue fines, no restrictions on how long a book was checked out — in fact, most books might never make it back.

The library, which some mistake for a large birdhouse, is now offering a selection of Christmas-themed materials, including books and music.

“There are a large number of adult and children Christmas-themed fiction, as well as many DVDs and CDs for family viewing and listening during school vacation,” Susan Furr told The Pee Dee Post in an email.

The Post’s personal favorite? A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
