ROCKINGHAM — It’s time to party, Liberty Tax Service-style. We’re celebrating the opening of tax season with Taxapalooza, a festive event for the entire community, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 7, at the Rockingham facility, located at 704 E. Broad Ave.
Taxapalooza is like a street fair. It will feature food, giveaways, and, naturally, tax tips. Liberty Tax Service offices across the country will participate, making Taxapalooza a nationwide fun fest.
“We figure this tax season could be stressful for our community, with the Affordable Care Act, and other changes,” said Mary Andrews. “So we thought a party was the perfect antidote. We also have some important information to share about health insurance and taxes.”
The food and fun for the (Rockingham) Taxapalooza are free.
Lady Liberty will be dancing in the streets and greeting everyone. She’ll distribute crowns to the little ones, and share information about the Affordable Care Act. This year is the first in which the health care law will have tax implications. Those who did not have health insurance in 2014 could owe a penalty when they file their taxes. Liberty Tax Service can help taxpayers understand the law and how it will affect their taxes. Liberty can also help individuals apply for coverage exemptions or enroll in health insurance for 2015.
“We are raring to go,” said Andrews. “We want to get this tax season started with a bang, and we welcome everyone to come out and get it going with us.”
