ROCKINGHAM — More than 120 children and caregivers joined the staff at Discovery Place KIDS in downtown Rockingham to ring in the Noon Year. No, that’s not a typo.

With the sun still high in the sky — and while the children’s energy levels equally high in energy and enthusiasm — the nonprofit children’s science museum welcomed in 2015 a few hours early with music, dancing and noisemakers — plenty of noisemakers.

Sophia Bobber might have been the star of the dance floor — or, rather, above the floor. The 8-year-old Pinebluff resident was showing off her moves from atop the firetruck while her brother, Luke, 5, celebrated in a more restrained manner.
