The meal was prepared by city employees. Current and retired employees enjoyed steak, chicken and shrimp with sides and desserts.

The family atmosphere allowed employees and retirees an opportunity to fellowship with one another. Door prizes from local businesses and community members were handed out. In expressing his gratitude to the employees, City Manager Marcus Abernethy said, “You make the City of Hamlet what it is on a daily basis and for that I thank you. Keep up the good work.”

The Hamlet mayor and members of the City Council were also in attendance to support employees. Several council members offered words of appreciation as well.

“All of us want to express our gratitude to each and every one of our employees,” said Hamlet Mayor Bill Bayless. “We appreciate all of you and the good job you have done this year. Please stay safe over the holidays. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
