ROBERDEL — Workers with FineLine Construction, of Raleigh, spent a little more than 10 hours on Saturday replacing a dilapidated steeple on top of Roberdel Baptist Church, located at 1118 Richmond Road in Rockingham.
The 126-year-old facility’s steeple had shown signs of wear and tear, including rotting and leaking. Underneath the steeple is the church’s sound equipment wires, the mix if rainwater and cable was not a good one.
The workers began at about 7 a.m. and finished up a little bit after 5 p.m. installing the new steeple, which was made by Taylorsville-based Piedmont Fiberglass.
The church celebrated its 126th anniversary in October.
