Staff report

At 5:52 p.m., North Carolina Department of Public Safety spokesman Keith Acree announced that one of the two escaped inmates from Morrison Correctional Institution in Hoffman have been captured.

Jacob Pilkington was captured this afternoon in Marion. The McDowell County city of 8,000 is located approximately 190 miles northwest of Rockingham. It was a place that authorities had predicted one of the escaped convicted might show up — but not Pilkington. It was Frankie Noles, 22, that had tied to McDowell County. Pilkington was reported to have ties in Rowan County.

The search continues in the Marion area for inmate Noles, Acree said.

Anyone with information about either man is asked to call local law enforcement or the prison at 910-281-3161.
