Early voting tops 16 percent

With only four more hours of early voting, the number of Richmond County voters who have cast their ballots prior to the Nov. 4 general election topped 4,800.

election2014logoA total of 4,890 early voters have made their way to the polls in Rockingham, Ellerbe and Hamlet — which means 16 percent of the county’s 30,530 registered voters have some free time on Tuesday.

A breakdown of the turnout at the three early voting centers:

Rockingham — 4,133
Hamlet — 544
Ellerbe — 213

Early voting continues Saturday at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Office in downtown Rockingham, the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet and at Ellerbe Town Hall, 108 W. Page St., Ellerbe. Early voting is from 9 a.m .to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at each site.

Polls are open on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
