Hill: Knowing me, God loves me still

“The knowledge of God’s infinite knowledge should fill the Christian with adoration. The whole of my life stood open to His view from the beginning. He foresaw my every fall, my every sin, my every backsliding; yet, nevertheless, fixed His heart upon me. Oh, how the realization of this should bow me in wonder and worship before Him!” [Pink, Arthur W.].

Speaking the Truth in Love

God’s knowledge is perfect. There is nothing concealed from Him. The trees of the garden were unable to hide Adam and Eve from God when He came walking through the garden. Cain’s killing of Abel did not go without notice. Achan’s theft was brought to light after the loss of the battle against Ai. David’s wickedness was exposed when the prophet proclaimed, “thou art the man.”

The widow of Zarephath was blessed when she met the needs of the prophet of God, Elijah. The widow with two mites was noticed by Jesus when she placed in the offering all she had. Paul and Silas, in their rejoicing while in prison were freed by an earthquake from God yet stayed and fulfilled the plan of God to be a witness to the Philippian jailer and his family.

Many wish there was no Witness of their sins, no Searcher of their hearts, no Judge of their deeds, and their attempts to banish such a God from their thoughts and lives is futile. Hosea 7:2, “And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness:” With His knowledge, God still has not forsaken us. God reveals His love for us through His word, all we are required to do is trust Him because;

God knew and knows everything about us and He still chooses us. God saw a man named Abram and He chose him to be the father of nations. He gave him a son to fulfill His covenant even knowing his future failures. Yet the Bible calls him THE FRIEND OF GOD. God saw all our failures and God saw all our mistakes yet He chose us still (Jn. 15:12-16).

Ps 139:2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.

I cannot think a single thought nor utter a single word that is unknown by God, “not a word in my tongue.” God knows our thoughts and with that knowledge, God is still “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” As Philippians 4:6-9, tells us, we are to think good thoughts as we live the Christian life and the result will be that the God of peace will be with us. Paul even says in Romans 7:15-20 that he has trouble doing what is good and right because of the battle between the spirit and the flesh, but in all our thoughts and in all our actions God loves us still.

Job said, “But He knoweth the way that I take.” It may be mysterious to me, incomprehensible to my friends, but “He knoweth!” In times of weariness and times of weakness, believers can assure themselves of this truth. We may not understand why trials come into our lives, trials that cause doubt and result in failures but God knows and God loves us still. We find our encouragement in Him and we can call on Him when we have a need. God responds as recorded in Isaiah 65:24, “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”

When you feel alone just remember that in all situations and circumstances there is a God in Heaven that loves you and has chosen you even with all the knowledge He has of who you are. God chooses us, we decide if we will accept Him by acknowledging our sinfulness and asking for forgiveness. I am thankful that God chose me even while He knew me, past, present, and future.
