ROCKINGHAM — One woman was injured in an early Saturday morning rollover on U.S. Route 220 south of Rockingham.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:27 a.m. That’s when the driver of a Honda sedan with North Carolina tags apparently lost control of her vehicle while traveling southbound on Route 220 south of Midway Road. The vehicle appeared to have left the roadway, hit a tree and spin around. The vehicle flipped and spun around, coming to a rest on its right side in the tree-lined media. front facing north in the southbound.
The female driver was loaded by FirstHealth EMS personnel onto an ambulance and taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital for treatment. As this article is published, her name and the extent of her injuries are unknown.
Officers with the Rockingham Police Department, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockingham Fire Department also responded to the scene. Law enforcement officers seemed to be searching for something as they combed through the tall grass along the tree line with flashlights.
