Professional model and runway coach Jennifer Michelle celebrated her one year anniversary on the small screen Tuesday morning in Charlotte.

Known to the Richmond Senior High School Class of 1991 as Jennifer Everett, the Rockingham native is host of the Everyday Runway segment on WCCB‘s morning news program. Every other Tuesday, Everett is able to help an ordinary woman into something more magical, making her runway ready.

“I think it went absolutely well,” said Everett shortly after the segment aired live Tuesday morning. “I was very happy with the end result. When I started the show, the one thing I wanted to do was take an everyday woman and make her feel wonderful.”

That can sometimes be a challenge, Everett said. Take Stephanie, Tuesday’s subject. She was, Everett said, “a little apprehensive” — to the point of nearly backing out of the segment the day before the show.

“I had a mini-heart attack,” Everett laughed Tuesday. “The look on her face, and how beautiful she was when she walked out, I was very pleased.”

So, too, was Stephanie. And it’s a facial expression of which Everett never tires.

Everett is hopeful the success of her three-minute segment will turn into more air time. She hopes to host her own show one day and could jumpstart that with a series of “ambush makeovers” recorded on video and posted to YouTube.

Everett sometimes is able to make the connection on air a personal one. In May, her mother was a guest on the show and received a makeover.

“This past year I have been honored to work with local boutiques and designers as well as major department stores,” Everett said. “I’ve met some beautiful woman and handsome men as I carried out my mission for the segment which is to make sure the everyday woman feels runway ready. Since my first interview and segment I have given viewers the latest fashion and beauty trends. From prom to internships, red carpet to runway, we’ve left nothing uncovered.”

Everett works with makeup artist Gregory Lawrence and together they make quite an impact in Charlotte and the surrounding area’s fashion community.
