RALEIGH — Ricky Bobby’s No. 26 Wonder Bread race car from the 2006 movie “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” has arrived at the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh. The 2006 Chevrolet will be among many exciting things to see in the exhibit Starring North Carolina!, opening Saturday, Nov. 15.

This will be the first major exhibit about North Carolina’s movies, television shows, cast members and crews. It will highlight the state’s role in the film industry for more than 100 years. Starring North Carolina! will run through Sept. 6, 2015.

“Talledega Nights” is among some 3,000 films and television programs that have been made in the Tar Heel State. Ricky Bobby, played by Will Ferrell, led the fictional NASCAR circuit in “Talladega Nights” while driving the No. 26 Wonder Bread car in scenes shot at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway and North Carolina’s Charlotte Motor Speedway and Rockingham Speedway. The car, currently on view in the museum lobby, is on loan from International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega, Ala., and from Shell Oil.

Starring North Carolina! will showcase costumes and props from other movies and television shows: “Bull Durham,” “Iron Man 3,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Blue Velvet,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and dozens more! The approximately 8,000-squarefoot exhibit will include interactive components, movie clips and images.

Major sponsors of the exhibit are the News & Observer, North Carolina Museum of History Associates, and North Carolina News Network.
