Rockets earn golf tourney victory

ROCKINGHAM — Hailey Miller had the second lowest score of the day, with a round of 44, on Monday to lead the Rockingham Rockets to a team victory in a six-team match at Richmond Pines Golf Course.

Cameron Inman, of Hoke County, had the best round of 40. Rockingham finished atop the team standings with a score of 188, followed by Hamlet (201) Anson (211), and, tied for fourth, Ellerbe and Hoke County with 217 apiece. Rohanen’s squad rounded out the scoring with a 249.

Cameron Ray and Cameron Carroway each shot a 46 for Rockingham while Eric McFayden finished up the scoring four with a 52.

Luke Hawks led the second-place Red Rams with a round of 48 while Austin Dalton, Josh Bruce and Noah Altman each fired a 51 for Hamlet.

Jackson Grooms’ 52 led Ellerbe, followed by Brian White (54), Adam Webb (55) and Logan Moore (56).

For Rohanen, Zack Taylor led the way with a round of 58. Drake Campbell was second with a 61, followed by Keith Gerald (64) and Garrett Miller (66).
