3 charged with embezzlement, conspiracy

Hamlet Police Department investigators have arrested three women involved in an alleged conspiracy to steal money from their employer.

Police said Whitney Herndon, 27, of Rockingham, Amanda Polston, 18, of Hamlet and Morgan Jackson, 20, of Bennettsville, S.C., were taking money from Subway sandwich shop in Hamlet. The district manager reported concerns to the Hamlet Police Department. The amount missing was $1,490.53.

Each suspect was charged with one count of larceny by an employee and one count of conspiring to commit felony larceny. Each was held on a $2,500 unsecured bond. They are scheduled to appear on Oct. 9 in Richmond County District Court.
