Sheriff Godfrey: More arrests expected

Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators have made an arrest in a June 2013 murder in Southern Pines.

Martaveous Donta Kelly, 27, of 1165 West Indiana Ave., Southern Pines, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of felony conspiracy to commit murder. Kelly was placed in the Moore County Detention Center and is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in Moore County District Court in Carthage.
On June 15, 2013, the sheriff’s office office received a report of a shooting on the 300 block of Eastman Road in Southern Pines. Deputies responded to the scene and located Sean Jeremy McLean and EMS paramedics declared him deceased at the scene.
Godfrey said that the investigation continues and more arrest are anticipated.
