Police seek river shooting suspect

Anson County authorities are seeking the public’s help to locate Michael Kelvin Allen, wanted in connection with an assault and shooting incident Thursday night on the Anson County side of the Pee Dee River.

Allen, 35, is described as a white male approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with brown hair. He’s believed to be in the Hamlet area.

Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Michael Allen is asked to call the Anson County Sheriff’s Office at 704-694-4188 or the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 910-895-3232.

Allen is wanted for assault while pointing a gun, assault inflicting a serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to witness accounts, the suspect alleged the victim had killed his mother in a vehicle accident several years. Thursday’s act was considered revenge, police said.
